A New Jersey Notion

While in New Jersey we met up with our friend Sean while he was on leave, and as you can see, instantly there were sparks.

We met Sean's sisters Elizabeth and Catherine and his good friend, Megan.

The Loosen family prepared a feast in honor of "The Nomads" arrival.

We went down to the shore

The beach in Ocean Grove, NJ

Ocean Grove, NJ a Methodist founded resort town.

The most impressive structure in Ocean Grove, The Great Auditorium.

In Ocean Grove people rent little tent areas near the beach for the summer, but they were all packed up

The Stone Pony, one of the world's most well known music venues. Starting point for Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi.

Billy Joel's old house near Asbury Park

We went to President Grover Cleveland's Birthplace in Orange Grove, NJ

The Capital in Trenton

Thomas Edison State College in Trenton

Another unexpected roadside oddity, and a giant bottle

Driving into Atlantic City on 30 we spotted some of the wind turbines that make up the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm. We remembered that the properties in Monopoly were named after places in and around Atlantic City. We hoped to find some free parking and not have to go directly to jail.

We didn't venture into any of the casinos, but drove around and down Atlantic Ave. We did not pass go or collect 200 dollars.

The flickering lights of the casinos do little to distract you from the deplorable conditions of the city. Once you get away from the tourist areas it gets a little scary.

A giant elephant house?!?

The Elephant is affectionately called "Lucy" and is a house built on the beach in Margate City, just south of Atlantic City.
